Term One: Week Nine ~ Winding Down

We are winding down our first term of this school year. All three boys are on track to finish their assigned written work BEFORE the official last day of school. We are all ready for our autumn/Easter school holidays break.

I finished reading this book aloud to Monster and it was EXCELLENT.

We also finished off these two books from some unit studies we've been working on this term. Over the holiday break I will decide if more study is needed, or if we can move on to other topics within health and human development.

Monkey finished two independent reading books this week.

Some extra excitement this week when daddy found this Praying Mantis at a friend's house and brought it home for the boys to investigate. After some discussion and some research we decided that keeping him for any length of time was not a good idea as you have to feed them live insects. Therefore, we spent some time observing him on our front verandah and then placed him in a safe place in our garden.

Munchkin spent a good portion of one day sorting through a bag of assorted Lego so he could do some building and some stop motion work.

Monkey spent some time this week working on his portraiture... this is the Grand Duke of Luxembourgh

Saturday night for a special treat (and thanks to an easy recipe my best friend sent me) we had homemade pizza for dinner. I have NEVER made pizza dough ever in my life so was pleased to find it was easy and turned out well. Now that I know how to do it, Munchkin will be my assistant.
