Week Eight ~

After several days of cloudy and/or windy weather we were FINALLY able to continue our solar system unit and make these sun dials!

 Puzzles, puzzles, and more puzzles.
An update photo of Monster's and my puzzle at the top...
The one hundred piece penguin puzzle that Monkey and I put together one evening...
and finally a new 1000 piece puzzle that I have started with the idea of working on it by myself.

I found some clay dinosaur eggs at Kmart and the boys spent a LONG afternoon digging out the dinosaurs while I finished reading about 2/3 of James and the Giant Peach to them!

Munchkin was WAY more interested in playing with all the dust it created!

And finally the big boys spent some time creating their own "ice cube" boats which they coloured with food colouring, froze in the freezer, then attached a paper sail and floated them in the tub.

Week Seven ~

Lots of pictures this week...

First up is the HUGE crane that was working down the street from our house reinforcing the train tracks.  It is the 2nd largest crane in the Southern Hemisphere measuring 260 metres when fully assembled.  It took nine days to move it in and assemble it, only 48 hours to complete the work on the train track, and another nine days to take it apart and ship it back out on flatbed trucks!  The boys LOVED watching the process.

Another Pinterest Toddler idea - and he LOVED this one - spending quite awhile sticking the pipe cleaners in the strainer before moving on to another activity.

Both the big boys enjoyed these mosaic pictures!

Paint with Water is another great activity for Munchkin!

The big boys are interested in trying a unit study on the solar system.
We started with the sun and read these two books aloud.

Finished mosaic pictures...

Two new fine motor skills games/toys I got out for the big boys.

Monster and I are making slow progress on our puzzle.
What amazes me is that he places MANY more puzzle pieces than I am able to.

We finished off our busy week with some indoor rock climbing!
It was AWESOME!!

Week Six ~

No pictures of structured learning time this week...
Instead I have some pictures of taking the boys bowling for the first time...

And some nature photography.
Our homeschool group met at a beautiful park for a picnic lunch and a chance to visit together before one of the families headed to China to do missionary work.
The above photo is a Kookaburra and the photo below is a Tawny Frogmouth!
