April School Holidays: Week Two ~ Slowly Returning to Normal

Because Munchkin's birthday fell during the second week of school holidays this year, this blog post pretty much stars him!

Monday I came up with a way to get some reading done and also keep Munchkin happy. He was BEGGING me to get the trampoline out so I got the brilliant idea to sit in the car and read while he jumped to his heart's content. Then I could monitor him easily and also get some much needed reading of my own done!

Wednesday morning I took Munchkin to the library for the school holiday event. Both events were super easy craft events, and there was only one event each of the two weeks of holidays, BUT we are THRILLED to have school holidays events back at the library. It is another small step towards our normal life "before COVID"!! This particular craft was a honey bee craft. They covered a cup with yellow paper cut out from old magazines and then they attached paper bees to the cup. It was a clever little project and Munchkin LOVED it!!

Thursday morning Munchkin and I spent time baking cookies and cupcakes for his lunch birthday party with two families from our homeschool group. Another small return to normal as this is the first birthday party we've had since February 2020! Monster sneaked his normal BBQ party at the park in a month before all the crazy began!!

We decorated the outside of the house with the birthday sign this year... and Munchkin enjoyed using the electric hand mixer to blend his cupcake batter.

There is progress on Munchkin's Discovery Garden plants...

The two families arrived separately about 40 minutes apart so while we waited for everyone to arrive there was some game playing...

I wisely took the group photo as soon as the second family arrived before everything got too crazy!

Lebanese pizza and cordial for lunch was a HUGE hit!!

More board games after lunch...

After lunch Munchkin opened his few presents while we digested all the delicious food...

Then everyone decorated their cupcakes and headed outside to eat them in the sunshine...

After cupcakes we took the whole crew to the park to burn off some energy... we took the pool noodle Light Sabers and they had a blast! The two photos above are during the walk to the park...

After about 30 minutes running around at the park we headed back home...

Munchkin ended his birthday celebrations trading Pokemon cards with his best friend.

The official 9 year old photo.

After dinner there was birthday cake for dessert! It was a good day!

We finished off the week with a family trip to watch the Australian Rules Football game.

After the game we met up with dear friends and were FINALLY able to get 15 year old photos of Monster and his "best friend from birth"! Normally this photo would be taken during her birthday party in March, but because of COVID we couldn't get one this year! But better late than never I say... I just can't quite believe they are 15 years old!
