Term Four: Week Three ~ Celebrations

Week Three is upon us and we are working on finishing up the last of our unit studies for this year. The boys also enjoyed some extra special socialisation this week and Munchkin thoroughly enjoyed some messy craft at his best friend's house. 

Our church has a roster for cleaning the building and also providing morning tea after the service. This week it was my turn and Munchkin got in on the action. I served the crackers and veggies with dip and a carrot cake. Munchkin baked the carrot cake - the only help I gave him with it was icing it just before serving Sunday morning.

After church the two older boys were dropped off at their friends house who hosts them for dinner every Friday night before youth group. The two eldest children in the family held a combined birthday party as they both have birthdays in the same month. They enjoyed lots of nibbles, a lovely BBQ lunch, and then this fabulous pavlova you see above - decorated by the birthday girl.

Monkey is enjoying a quick unit study on rocks and minerals this term, and Munchkin is learning all about computers - the history of them as well as proper and safe useage.

He was in HEAVEN on Friday when he FINALLY got to do a paper mache project he has been wanting to do FOREVER. Stay tuned as this is a long term project...

Term Four: Week Two ~ Books, Friends, and Board Games

As we begin our second week of this last term of the year we are getting back into the routine of school. There are no photos of structured written work this week. As the boys get older it is harder to visually showcase that aspect of their learning because it is mostly reading and book work and that is somewhat boring to photograph. But that work got done this week and then we enjoyed the more natural aspects of learning in our lives.

We made sure to read aloud all the crayon books. If you have access to these books I highly recommend them. They are hilarious. In our humble opinion the first two are the best ("The Day the Crayons Quit" and "The Day the Crayons Came Home") but they are all pretty cute.

The chapter books we finished off this week during our read aloud sessions. These were all selections I specifically read aloud to Munchkin although the two older boys listened in as well.

Board games at the library is always a favourite activity for Munchkin and his best friends.

It is always difficult to get a good photo of these two - especially when they are in a silly mood.

I can't remember why he collapsed on the floor - but I snapped a photo of his antics just the same. I think it might have had something to do with getting together (or in this case not being able to get together) with his besties for as long as he likes on Friday.
