September School Holidays: Week Two ~ Footy, Science Experiments, and Library Fun

Week Two of the September/October school holidays is always a bit tougher because we push the clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night (wee hours of Sunday morning). Our family complicated this mild sleep deprivation even further because of a generous gift.

While I enjoyed peace and quiet at home Sunday night watching the Rugby League Finals game on our big screen TV...

Hubby and the three boys took the train to Olympic Park and watched the game live at the stadium. This meant they didn't get home until just before midnight and none of them were in bed for awhile because they were all hungry. Good thing we had another week of holidays to recover.

The first load of books arrived that I put on reserve for the new term. My heart is always happy when I go to the library, but when I have lots of books to pick up, I'm even happier.

The last holiday event at the library for this school holidays period was a collage event to make a vase of flowers. Those who attended had two tables stacked high with old magazines and they began to cut and paste to their hearts content.

I used this opportunity to pick up the remainder of the books we needed for Term 4. Admittedly some of the books in this photo are personal reads and NOT specifically for the term, but you get the idea.

Munchkin harvesting some seeds off this huge tree as he wants to attempt to grow one on his own.

The neighbour boy who lives behind us has a beautiful board game set that is Monopoly, Clue, checkers, chess and cribbage all in one. The two boys spent several afternoons playing board games together.

Munchkin did some science experiments over the holidays. This one was his favourite. Freezing water in a small balloon...

Sprinkling salt on the ice "globe"...

Then decorating it with food colouring...

I didn't get in quite as much walking as I would have liked this week...

Whenever Munchkin wasn't with his friend or doing a science experiment, he was reading. These are a selection of all the books he read this week.
