Term Three: Week Six ~ A Mid-Week Birthday Celebration and a Broken Washing Machine

This week was WAY out of the ordinary for us... The week started off with some natural, self-directed learning... then Tuesday we got an impromptu invitation to help celebrate a homeschool friend's birthday... and we finished off the week with washing machine dramas!!

The boys enjoyed some self-directed, natural learning time this week...
First Monster and Munchkin had a Pokemon battle...

Munchkin spent some time drawing with chalk on the back verandah...

And both Monkey and Munchkin spent time playing with our mammoth play dough set.

Examples of their Angry Birds playdough figures... Munchkin's are on top and Monkey's on the bottom...

Tuesday morning we headed off to the local movie theater to see Despicable Me 3 with homeschool friends of ours.  After the movie we got lunch together and then headed to a local park as well... it was a lovely day out.

 Fun at the playground...

Monster spent an evening working on his newest puzzle while I read aloud to him...

Finally, our week ended with major drama when the washing machine stopped spinning clothes and also started sparking from underneath.  So this is a random photo of all the boys pants drip dying on the line after I hauled them out of the washing machine.  Thankfully hubby was able to fix the machine and all is well now.

Monster enjoyed this book as his independent reading for the week...

Munchkin has a renewed obsession with the Spot books...

And the older boys enjoyed these two books as an evening read aloud one night...

Term Three: Week Five ~ A Mumbo Jumbo Week

Nothing super fancy about this week... midway through the term already and we are just plugging along with our learning and playing.  My photography seems to be taking a back seat to life, which can be good, but I do like to document our learning, so must try to pick the camera up more often.
Munchkin spent some time this week playing with the Wedgits.  He insisted on having his creation photographed, and being in the photo with the creation.

Monster and I are nearly halfway through the maths textbook.

Fun in the sun on the trampoline at our co-op learning day.

During our co-op time Monster enjoyed helping his friend with his 3D castle puzzle.

Munchkin always enjoys the opportunity to play with "new" and different toys... and he spent a good portion of the afternoon burning some energy on the trampoline.

Some of Munchkin's favourite bedtime picture books...

Monkey and I finished another book from "A Series of Unfortunate Events"...

While Monster and I finished off another Horrible Histories book, and officially started our Ancient China unit.

Term Three: Week Four ~ LOTS of Reading

From a photographic perspective you would think that we only read books this week... while this is definitely NOT a bad thing... rest assured we put pen to paper and got some written work done as well... I just didn't pick up my camera and record it!  But both older boys did a writing assignment... Monster and I finished off our chapter in math on probability, while Monkey finished a unit in his math book as well.  The only bummer for the week really was that Thursday co-op was cancelled as the other mum was feeling unwell, but all in all we had an excellent week and enjoyed all our learning experiences.

Munchkin's finished Dd pages... very simple compared to some others...

Monkey really enjoyed his measurement page in maths...

Another Premier's Reading challenge book finished - Monster has really enjoyed this series about all the Australians featured on our notes.

 Bedtime selections for Munchkin...

One lunchtime reading session was devoted to the Frances books - favourites of mine from my childhood and I LOVE sharing them with the boys.

More bedtime stories for Munchkin... the Max books are fun!!

Evening read alouds for Monkey...

More of Munchkin's picture book selections...

Independent selections for Monster... he demolished the new Treehouse book in less than an hour... and his last Premier's Reading Challenge book for this year!

Munchkin was overjoyed to find "OH NO, Little Dragon" at the library again!!
