Term One: Week Ten ~ An Early Finish

Week Ten is upon us and the first term of the year is nearly over - just like that. All three boys worked hard and finished their scheduled and assigned written work by Monday of Week Ten so they earned themselves three extra days of holidays. Thus, this blog post is the beginning of our holiday time and highlights some of the relaxing activities the boys will be enjoying for the next three weeks.

We finished off our last two read alouds this week. There are a couple more chapter books that I wasn't able to finish, so we will pause those and pick up where we left off when Term Two begins at the end of the month.

Monster and I were NOT impressed with 1984 at all and both of us feel there are MUCH better books to read than this one. I'm highly unlikely to read this book aloud to Monkey and Munchkin when the time comes... they can read it independently if they so choose... but once was enough for me.

A photo shoot with Munchkin one morning as our pastor's wife always puts a birthday photo in the newsletter/bulletin the Sunday before the birthday. Munchkin had some fun messing around (top two photos) before posing nicely as requested.

With the help of a dear friend who donated his time and his truck, we are now the proud owners of a "new to us" sofa bed - the previous one was showing its age and the bed part was getting more and more difficult to use.

Munchkin found a recipe online to make his own jelly lollies so we bought the ingredients we didn't already have, and he spent one morning cooking the mixture, pouring it into our specialty ice trays, and setting them in the fridge and freezer.

Thursday was craft at the library - a Ramadan craft and Munchkin also got the opportunity to play with a friend's VR unit in the evening. Whilst I personally have NO interest in VR at all, it is rather funny to watch the boys experience it.

Sadly my camera on my phone didn't do it justice, but the clouds were absolutely beautiful one evening. By the time I grabbed my DSLR camera the light had changed and the picture I had wanted to capture was completely gone.

Monkey spends a good portion of time drawing countries - real and imagined. This is a country he has created from his imagination.

We continue to check the progress of our dragon fruits as we wait for them to ripen.

I got some good walking in this week - but I'm still struggling to walk daily and to keep my total steps a bit more consistent.

Munchkin enjoyed a lot of reading time this week as you can see from his selection of independent books he chose to read.
