Summer School Holidays: Week One ~ Relaxing and Enjoying

Our first week of our summer school holidays and the plan is to relax and get ready to celebrate Christmas.

These are the beautiful flowers that grow in our garden - one of my favourite plants. The flowers ONLY bloom early in the morning and in the evening when the plant is in the shade. These photos were taken Sunday morning before we headed off to church. By the time we got home in the afternoon they were closed up tight.

We finished our last literature book for this year... we take a break from literature now until our 2023 school year starts the last week of January/first week of February.

Only four Christmas picture books this week - not sure what happened there. But these four are some of our all time favourite books from the library.

We attended an evening carols event at the Anglican church where the boys attend their Pupil Free Day lego events. There were sausages to eat, gingerbread cookies to decorate, Lego Christmas decorations to build, a puppet show, and carols to sing. However, despite the beautiful sky you see in the photo above, shortly after taking that the clouds arrived and we had a brief thunderstorm complete with rain. Everyone hid under the covered areas until the rain past and then we just kept singing. It was a lovely evening - though freezing cold (for this time of year) and it took me ages to warm up once we got home.

Our home grown tomatoes are thriving and ripening well and we are looking forward to tasting them soon.

More exercise on the trainer and an afternoon spent making sure we have all the pieces to the Mousetrap game we bought at the op-shop some time ago.

I scheduled ONE big project this week... helping Munchkin clean up his creative mess in the playroom that I had been ignoring for entirely too long. It took three hours of non-stop work but we persevered and in the end it was SO worth it. Now it is my job to make sure he maintains this level of clean by being consistent with my expectations of cleanliness for this area of the house.

We were quite proud of our work once we stopped for the day. There are two shelves in the left hand bookshelf that need work, but we were exhausted and agreed together to tackle those after Christmas.

This photo says it all - Munchkin was DONE!!

Munchkin decided to cook pancakes for everyone for lunch one day...

There were numerous toppings to choose from: honey, maple syrup, bananas, shredded coconut, and jam...

Finally - I got two decent walks in this week!
