Term Four: Week Five ~ Photography, Forts, and Lego Fun

Sometimes my blog posts are full of photos of the more structured features of our week, and other times the blog post is MUCH more eclectic. This is one of the hodge-podge weeks. A little bit of this and a little bit of that, giving you a more blended look at what a week in our lives looks like. This sort of "random" blog post is also a good illustration that we are midway through a term, and as it is now the fourth, and last, term of the year, we are entering the time when we are ready to be finished for the year. So enjoy this eclectic collection of photographs...

I got to have lots of fun snapping a few candid photos of this precious little boy. He is the youngest member of our church, and the youngest son of Munchkin's god parents. He will turn one year old at the end of November and he is a joy to photograph. Due to COVID lockdowns we haven't seen much of this little guy, so I have a lot of catching up to do as far as photography is concerned.

The SINGLE photo I took of anyone attending to their structured written work. This is Munchkin diligently working through his two-page spelling unit for the week.

A new routine I've started is doing our daytime reading aloud FIRST thing on Thursday mornings. Trying to get it done in the afternoon, also walk to and from the library, and still keep dinner, prayers, and evening routine on schedule was proving difficult. So now, once everyone is out of bed (8:30am), I fix hot chocolate for all of us and we settle in the lounge room for about an hour of reading. The day goes MUCH smoother now.

November is starting out cool and wet, so Munchkin is making the most of it and enjoying building forts in the afternoons.

Minecraft is Munchkin's game of choice any day that his friends can't play online games with him. The boys enjoy 30 minutes of gaming time once all of their structured written work is complete.

An afternoon of Lego fun... Munchkin dumped out the box of Legos waiting to be sorted and re-homed in search of some much needed parts.

Two beautiful new series of non-fiction books that we are enjoying this term...

Monkey and Munchkin are enjoying working through the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series...

Munchkin has The Wizards of Once series and several Minecraft books to keep him busy...

More read aloud selections... the book on the right is part of a new series that is quite good.

Munchkin is the voracious reader... it is hard to keep enough books available for him and he loves to read and re-read his favourites from the library.

Munchkin is REALLY enjoying this beautifully written series by my favourite Australian author.

More independent reading for Munchkin...
