Term Four: Week Three ~ Books, Books and More Books

We are finding our groove now that we are in Week Three of the term. You will notice that there are LOTS and LOTS of books posted in this blog entry. We are LOVING having books from the library back in our life again.

COVID restrictions are slowly lifting in the area and we are finally allowed IN the library again. What a joy it is to walk INSIDE the building, browse the shelves, and talk to the librarians. It is so true that you don't realise what you have until it is gone. I will NEVER take the ability to spend time IN the library for granted again.

Munchkin and I enjoyed playing some games in the afternoons...

Monkey is giving "still life" drawing a try and I would say that his tomato and apple are extremely successful. We all agree that the apple is the better and more realistic drawing of the two, but both are excellent.

The set up when Monkey and I work on his math together. I work through the problems each day with him and it is always fun to see who gets the most correct answers. But in reality, this is an EXCELLENT way to do math when my boys begin high school level math and I'm glad that a good friend recommended it.

Two photos of Monkey working hard on his creative writing assignment for the week... it was the third installment to a series about a time machine.

Two photos of Munchkin working hard through the week... Left hand photo is his weekly spelling unit and the right hand photo is his geography notebooking page about China.

As Monster works independently in our home office now, I sometimes forget to photograph him working on his structured written work. Here he is working on his math...

Munchkin's finished notebooking page all about China. I had to take two photographs because he created a "lift the flap" portion to the page. He wanted to draw his own Chinese flag as well as paste in the printed copy of the flag so after some thought he came up with this idea.

Monkey's notebooking page on China...

Munchkin surprised me by showing me that he has taught himself how to ride a bike... after only ONE lesson from dad!!

The boys had their Once-a-Month online gaming session with their friends and cousins this week. So they all played together using three different computers in the house. Monkey LOVES it because he gets to use his dad's computer!!

More bike riding fun in the late afternoon on Saturday. This time he is riding his own bike. In the previous photo he was riding our neighbour's bike.

The above photographs are independent choice books for Munchkin and Monkey.

We are really enjoying this series about the various places of worship for the major world religions.

More independent choice books. Monkey focused on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. The rest are choices of Munchkin's.

Some of our read aloud selections for the week...

Another batch of independent choice books...

Another batch of read aloud books for the week. It is AMAZING to have books to read instead of having to rely on online learning resources.

The final batch of independent choice books...

Finally, two last read aloud books, from two fantastic series.
