Term Four: Week Nine ~ Trampolines, Puzzles, and Reading Challenges

Week Nine has arrived and only Monster has school work to complete. He works for an hour or so in the late morning, and the rest of the day we enjoy other activities!

This was the week of using the trampoline to get some exercise. As you can see, all three boys thoroughly enjoyed their time jumping!

Monster knew he had to get his puzzle completed before the 13th of December in order to make room for the Christmas tree... so several evenings were spent diligently placing pieces.

Much excitement in the house when Monster's Gold Medal from the Premier's Reading Challenge arrived in the mail. These medals are awarded to students who successfully complete the reading challenge from Year 3 until Year 9 (inclusive). Monster set himself a goal to earn the medal and he has achieved that goal. He is now finished with the Premier's Reading Challenge as Year 9 completes it for students who participate.

Two more nights of work completed the puzzle... sadly one piece is missing, but Monster enjoyed completing the puzzle anyway.

LOTS of independent reading for Munchkin as he participates in the summer reading program at our local library...

Christmas picture book fun... these are two of our favourites

More independent reading... for both Munchkin and Monster

A couple more Christmas picture books... the Santa one was a bit disappointing but the Peter Rabbit book was cute...

Working hard to finish up Monkey's Government unit study with these read alouds...

More Christmas read alouds... the chapter book on the left was an older book, but the picture book on the right was really sweet.

Some favourites that refer back to childhood memories...

Term Four: Week Eight ~ Puzzles, Books and LOTS of Reading

Summer/Christmas school holidays are right around the corner and that is reflected in our library book haul. This pile is "fun" reading as all three boys have chosen to take part in the summer reading challenge, and Christmas books.

Munchkin has VERY little schoolwork left to complete so has LOTS of extra reading time in his day.

Multiple nights of puzzle progress for Monster... Our Christmas tree needs to stand where the puzzles are being stored so he is racing to finish in time.

Because the boys are participating in the summer reading challenge, we are making more trips to the library, and hence, they look forward to more books coming out of the garage quarantine.

Munchkin is enjoying reading and re-reading the Team Hero books and the Dog Man books to collect minutes of time spent reading. I don't mind... especially in the summer I allow them "free" and "frivolous" reading.

Two books for Monster's WWI unit study... I read aloud the book on the left and he independently read the book on the right.

Along with the many series Munchkin enjoys from the library, he also likes to read and re-read our Roald Dahl collection.

Read aloud selections... two Christmas books (we are reading one Christmas picture book each night) and two science related books as we finish off some of our unit studies for this year.

Munchkin is loving reading and re-reading these two books to himself... it could be awhile before they head back to the library for someone else to enjoy.

A couple more read alouds that all three boys enjoyed... we finished off our Olympics unit study with the title on the left!

Monkey, Monster and I all enjoyed Monkey's literature selection... even with the Old English speech that caused a few tongue twisting problems for me!!

More independent reading for Munchkin...

Two more Christmas read alouds... the Weird But True book was hilarious and fascinating!!
