Term Four: Week Four ~ Plugging Along

After our busy and exciting last week with Sculpture by the Sea and various Halloween activities, this week seemed rather hum drum. But in actuality, it was just a normal week in the life of homeschooling with my teenagers. There are no photos of finished books this week. We are working on some long ones that will take us nearly to the end of the year, so wait patiently please. The weather was up and down, and my sleep was iffy at best with a couple of horrible nights. Therefore, a hum drum boring week was just what we needed.

I had a very successful week with Duolingo!

Thursday during our walk to and from the shopping centre for groceries, Munchkin and I spotted all sorts of excitement. The first was sad, as we spotted two birds eggs that had fallen out of a nearby tree. A Google search told me they are likely Common Myna (also known as Indian Myna) eggs. These are NOT native birds and cause a lot of problems with other birds and wildlife. The second photo was the interesting parking job of this Lime Bike. But honestly, on windy days, of which we've had a few lately, this is a GREAT way to park the bike as it is less likely to fall down. However, the bikes are extremely heavy so it could mean someone who isn't particularly strong might not be able to right the bike in order to ride it.

Friday was another solo trip to the library for me. Thursday night was my worst night sleep of the week and I felt like death on Friday so it was actually good to get out of the house. I had a little bit of shopping to do and also visited a friend to drop off a borrowed book, but otherwise came home as quickly as possible. Amazingly, my book haul was only for the boys. I still have WAY too many books to finish by the end of the year, so was very good and didn't borrow any more for my own reading.

I'm taking part in a fun little event with one of my Facebook reading groups called "8 in 48" which very simply means I try to read a total of eight hours in the forty-eight hours that the event is running. I started my 48 hours at 7am Saturday and focused on these books for the day. I am reading roughly three chapters per day in the Ron Chernow book in order to finish it by its early December due date, and I finished "Death in the Clouds" by Agatha Christie - immediately starting "And Then There Were None" which I've been keen to read for ages. I also read a couple of pages of the Alison Goodman book just before bed. It isn't thrilling me yet, but is a loan from a friend and I want to return it by the end of the year. My 48 hours will end at 7am on Monday and already I've read for five hours. As my regular readers know, Sunday is a busy day for me with this blogging in the morning, church until lunchtime, batch cooking for the week in the afternoon, and date night with hubby in the evening. But I have tweaked things a little in hopes that I will be able to read my remaining three hours this afternoon and/or very early Monday morning.

No colouring progress photos this week. With the lack of sleep and the technicality of the Querkles colouring book, I decided it was best to take a break from that hobby. I turned to my knitting this week instead. I discovered when I went through my bag, that I have finished four squares in the last 2-3 weeks. Then I have two "work in progress" squares going at the moment as well. I work on these when I watch television (either date night with hubby or school related TV with the boys), during Bible Study on Thursday evenings, and any time we are in the car for an extended period of time. Once I have a bag full of squares, I drop them off at our local library. They have a monthly knitting group that sews the squares into blankets and donates them to a charity group that sends them around the world.

Not a bad Wordle week - especially with my lack of sleep!
