Term Three: Week Five ~ The Halfway Mark

Time is flying and we are halfway through this term already. Where has the year gone?

Munchkin worked hard this week and finished this 500 piece puzzle.

Our junior non-fiction read aloud selections that we read this week.

Munchkin started a new puzzle - though didn't get much more than the frame done. This will give him a good project in the weeks to come hopefully.

I would say that the highlight of Munchkin's week was learning how to make pikelets all on his own. This will give him the opportunity in the future to do self-directed cooking and also enjoy a quick and easy snack.

Lego day at the library for After School Activity Thursday.

Friday Fun for Munchkin with his besties... swimming and then an afternoon and evening of games, movies, and fun. It is such a blessing that he is able to spend a good chunk of time with these special friends.

Meanwhile the older boys enjoy their own Friday Fun with dinner and youth group with another wonderful family. Sausages, pasta, and salad were enjoyed by all this week.

Term Three: Week Four ~ Extra Celebrations and Working Hard

Week Four was all about some extra birthday celebrations for Monkey, getting busy working with schoolwork, and enjoying puzzles, games, and social time with friends.

Read aloud selection for Monkey - finished this week.

Our dear friend came over Monday afternoon with special gifts for Monkey (all art related) and a delicious afternoon tea/snack - complete with brownies. All three boys look forward to her special birthday visit eagerly each year.

Munchkin started, worked on, and finished this puzzle...

He also started, worked on, and finished a second puzzle...

And finally started a third puzzle...

An example of the crazy long math I'm doing with Monkey. I'm pleased because I'm getting much better at the levels of math that I really struggled with in high school.

I grab any chance to read that I can through the day - pretty much any time I'm waiting for the boys to be ready to start their work, or when it is very quiet.

Munchkin reads constantly - even when he is cooking himself an Indian flat bread.

Walking to the library for the After School Activity time and also return books and pick up reserves.

The activity for this week was board games and the children's librarian tried a co-operative game with the group. They really enjoyed it and are looking forward to playing another one soon.

Photos of one of the families we meet up with at the library on Thursdays. Normally we get to the library before they do, but this week they beat us, and her three children amused themselves well while they waited.

A new and exciting Friday routine has started for Munchkin. He was feeling a little sad that his brothers were having dinner with friends and then spending the evening at youth group. So another homeschool family offered to let him spend the day with them. He gets picked up at about midday, goes to their swimming lesson with them, and then enjoys play time at their house until he is returned home at about 7pm.

They play board games together, play with the pets (chickens, guinea pigs, lizards), and watch a movie together. Munchkin is MUCH happier with this social arrangement and hopefully it will continue for the remainder of this year.

Friday night board games with Munchkin before the older boys return from youth group. We played Sushi Go and Guess Who card game.
