Term Two: Week Ten ~ Birthday Celebrations

The last week of our school term and my photos are all about celebrating hubby's birthday. It was extra special as Nana was here and my brother-in-law was able to help us celebrate as well.

My photos begin with this beautiful and creative card that Monkey spent the whole previous week working on. The above photo is the front of the card...

The inside of the card...

And the back of the card...

Breakfast/brunch was a favourite birthday tradition of all the "boys" - pancakes and bacon!

Then Munchkin got straight to work on the birthday cake...

Once the cake was mixed, baked, and cooled, it was time to get on with making the icing...

And icing the cake...

and finally, decorating the cake... with mini marshmallows...

Munchkin's version of a "Rocky Road" cake.

The finished product... which he was immensely proud of.

Dinner was a lovely family meal at a local gourmet pizza restaurant that we have done our best to support during all the disruptions caused by COVID. After dinner we came home for cake and finished off the evening with a family photo together.

Blowing out the birthday cake...

Friday we braved impending horrible weather (rain and freezing temperatures) and went to our very first homeschool group since early June LAST YEAR. Sadly the only other people who showed up were two good friends who we've socialised with throughout the lockdowns, and everyone else who we haven't seen in over a year wimped out or were sick or had other plans. But the kids enjoyed the chance to roam around (even in the rain) and visit with one another while the mums hid under the shelter of the picnic tables.

Saturday one of my homeschool group friends and I went out for a few hours to roam the op-shops looking for good books! We went to two different shops and I scored this stack of books. At 50 cents per book it was an absolute steal!!

Independent reading for Munchkin...

We finished our final two junior non-fiction books for the term...

We also finished off the third book in the Daisy series as well... we will continue with book four through the holidays as we enjoy these stories so much we really hate to take a break.
