Term Two: Week Five ~ Puzzles, Science Projects, Lego, and Books

A bit of an eclectic mix of photographs this week... enjoy!!

Monster's puzzle progress for the week...

We finally got a chance to do Munchkin's crystal making science kit. He received it for his birthday. It will likely take longer to grow now that the weather decided (overnight mind you) to get cold, but we shall see...

The Lego Masters TV program was BRILLIANT and has sparked a renewed interest in the boys to build things using their imagination. The following pictures are Monkey's creations.

Mum and baby elephant...

giraffe...

lion...

hippopotamus...

and crocodile...

Munchkin can now read this series with minimal help on some of the big words...

We stumbled upon this series by accident... it is BRILLIANT!!

Munchkin is also capable of reading the Minecraft chapter books now as well... the literary world is his oyster right now!!

Even though he can confidently read chapter books now, I'm still having him complete the remainder of the books in the Fitzroy series... just to try to gauge his fluency level.

I started a human body unit with all three boys together...

Dark Emu was an AMAZING book. I read it aloud to Monster... I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to start learning the truth about what Australia was like in 1788 when the Europeans arrived. It also tells an entirely different story as to how the Aboriginals cultivated this land than what we've been spoon fed in school.

We have a bit of a Splat the Cat obsession going on at the moment. The books are too easy for Munchkin to read now... but they are so much fun!!

Monkey and Munchkin are devouring the DogMan books. I don't particularly like them (don't like the Captain Underpants books either) but I have utmost respect for Dav Pilkey NOT listening to the horrible advice his teacher gave him back in Year 2 and so I allow these books as FUN reading.
