Week Ten ~ Funeral, Illness, and Excursion

What a busy and crazy week the last week of the term ended up being!
We started with a family funeral on Monday and Daniel came down with a strange virus as well.  He had a very high fever, a tummy ache, some vomiting (though thankfully not much) and a headache!  Not much fun for him or me but it was short lived!!

So by Wednesday we were stir crazy and ready for an excursion into the city to learn about Aboriginal stuff.  And yes, Daniel was well enough to attend!!

Learning all about Aboriginal culture...
Demonstrations on how this board can be used to carry a baby, or for carrying something on their head!

Showing the children some boomerangs and spears...

 Monster doing some cave painting...

Monkey LOVED the boomerangs and spears and begged for photos with many of them!
His facial expressions were PRICELESS!!

 Monster grinding some seeds...

 A beautiful piece of artwork...

Monkey got a chance to do some cave painting...

Painting their own boomerangs using symbols to tell a story...

 Checking out the mega fauna...

After the Aboriginal classes it was off to check out other sections of the museum...

The only photo I had the chance to take was this one of the baby fresh water crocodiles!!

Then we headed across the street to Hyde Park for a picnic lunch, some time watching the bubble blowing man, and of course, my usual picture of Archibald Fountain!!

To finish off the term (on Friday) we decided to try making a batch of fudge in the slow cooker/crock pot!  It was an epic fail (the chocolate split because the heat was too hot I think) but we still enjoyed ourselves and the fudge was still edible!  We will try it again next term and cook it slower and at a lower temperature to see if we get a better result.
 Opening the chocolate...

Breaking it and putting it in the pot...

Adding the sweetened condensed milk...

 and some butter...

It looked good in the beginning...

But this was our end result!!

And finally Munchkin decided he wanted to do some gluing!!
