This term we began a narrative unit along with the non-fiction paragraphs Monster has been working on.  He wrote a total of four paragraphs this term, two non-fiction (topics were water-holding frogs and Panda Ants) and two narrative paragraphs based on well known Aesop fables.

Handwriting:
Foundation Handwriting Year 5

Grammar:
We continue to make progress working through our textbook The Grammar Ace.  Lessons this term included: Appositives, Phrases, Clauses and Types of Sentences.

Spelling:
daily oral review of weekly lists as sourced from year 6 lists on the internet
(20 words per list)
written test taken every Friday

Maths:
Cambridge Maths Year 7
During Term 2 Monster and I worked through the following units/chapters of the math textbook:
Unit Three:
Pre-test, working with negative integers, adding or subtracting a positive integer, adding or subtracting a negative integer, multiplying or dividing by an integer, order of operations with positive and negative integers, The Cartesian Plane and chapter summary.
Unit Four:
Pre-test, factors and multiples, highest common factor and lowest common multiple, what are fractions?, equivalent fractions and simplified fractions, mixed numerals and improper fractions, ordering positive and negative fractions, place value in decimals and ordering decimals, rounding decimals, decimal and fraction conversions, connecting percentages with fractions and decimals, decimal and percentage conversions, fraction and percentage conversions, percentage of a quantity, using fractions and percentages to compare to quantities and chapter summary.
