Term Three: Week Five ~ Nana Visits

Everyone is FINALLY healthy and well and I am starting to feel (halfway through the term) that we have a handle on school and life!
This week was an exciting one because Nana arrived Tuesday lunch time and stayed for the remainder of the week.
Less reading got done... but there was MUCH motivation to get structured written work done in order to enjoy free time with Nana as well as a couple of outings for special shopping.

First up for the week, Monkey and Munchkin enjoyed playing with the Mosaic Peg Board.

They carefully discussed which picture they wanted to create...

Sorted all the pegs by colour... and got to work.

Tuesday morning Monkey posed with the finished picture!

Tuesday morning I set up some new and interesting activities for Monkey and Munchkin.
Monkey is fairly against written work in general so I'm looking for learning opportunities that DON'T involve a lot of writing.
I pulled this spelling puzzle out of the cupboard and sorted through it for all the three letter CVC words and set it up on the dining table.

Meanwhile I set Munchkin up in the lounge room with his own special activities...

A Small to Big puzzle set that he LOVED and actually found to be quite easy...

I also pulled out the Thomas the Tank Engine matching cards... which he has played with before so this was an easy activity as well.

Monster is learning to play the recorder as we begin to work on some music curriculum finally. He is enjoying the experience and getting quite good at playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb"

Monkey really enjoyed the CVC word puzzles I set up for him...

After lunch it was outside to enjoy sunshine and fresh air and do some scootering in the driveway!

Due to the Pokemon obsession that has swept the house... the first thing the boys wanted to do after school work was finished was teach Nana how to have a Pokemon Battle with their cards.

The morning ritual for the rest of the week was to run out to the lounge room as soon as they woke to wake Nana and then cuddle with her!

They showed Nana their Yoga book from Auntie Heather and did a few poses together...

 More Pokemon battles...

Munchkin spent some time working on his fine motor skills while doing some tracing...

And together we put this puzzle together...

We ended the week with a long walk to show Nana Rotary Park...
Monster can read just about anywhere!!

There was GREAT disappointment when we arrived though as we discovered that when they did maintenance on the park they changed several things!  They took a bunch of the sand areas out and replaced them with soft fall and wood chips, and the AWESOME flying fox was taken down for maintenance as well so Monster had to make due with the little one.

Still there was sand to play with...

And swings to ride... so all was not lost!!

Lots of games were played through the week... including a new one (Phase 10) which is a card version of Rummy Cub!

Monster's independent reading for the week...

And our science read alouds for the week...
